Are you passionate about stories, children's rights, and promoting reading? We are looking for a public librarian/school librarian with a focus on children and young people.

The Department of Children and Education is responsible for providing childcare, schools, and cultural schools to those residing in or visiting Vingåkers municipality, on behalf of the Children and Education Committee. In addition, the Department also manages the municipality's tasks within the public library system. In the center of the town, you will find Vingåkers public library. Today, we are six employees working together to ensure that the public library continues to be a well-visited meeting place for culture, digital participation, and promoting reading. Our common goal is to strengthen the reading promotion work for the prioritized group of children and young people and their adults.

The position is a full-time job divided into 50% school librarian and 50% public librarian.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be part of an organization characterized by great commitment and an opportunity to further develop the operations together. You will work with various methods to strengthen children and young people's reading, both through your own activities and in collaboration with school educators to inspire a love for reading and increase the attractiveness of school libraries. This includes, for example, book discussions, reading projects, and various activities to spark and strengthen students' desire to read. You will participate in the daily work at the public library and play an important role in meeting and guiding our visitors in the library space, whether it concerns literature, information, or digital tools. In your work, you will meet visitors of all ages, and you need to be able to contribute to positive interactions. We are looking for someone who can think creatively, learn new things, and see opportunities in changes.

QUALIFICATIONS

You have a degree in Library and Information Science or have studied at a university/college in this field. Alternatively, you have an academic education at least at the bachelor's level that the employer assesses as equivalent. We will place great emphasis on personal suitability. You are expected to have good communication skills in both spoken and written language, as well as the ability to lead and meet groups. Knowledge of languages other than Swedish is an advantage. You have an interest and commitment to promoting reading and information and literature dissemination. You should also have the ability to create and maintain good relationships. Knowledge of working with digital tools and experience with the library system Quria is a plus. A valid driver's license (class B) is required.

OTHER

The position also includes work in the evenings and weekends.
